Recruited hardware(ASIC, Board, Systems), firmware and software(systems, peripherals, communications, databases, languages and tools, applications) professionals.

Search Consultants Agency, Executive Recruiter/Founder-Partner(10/79-11/89)

Conducted recruitment of field and software engineering professionals to include operating systems, firmware, communications, database, languages, software tools and systems level applications developers and management. Also responsible for day to day management of the partnership to include customer billing, accounts payable, payroll/commission tracking and payment(partners & employees). Total headcount included 3 partners, 4 recruiters and 3 clerical personnel.

Search Specialists Inc.(SSI), Executive Recruiter/Vice President(10/77-10/79)

I was the first employee of SSI and besides the duties of executive recruiter—assisted in the development, training and management of the company. Recruitment included software engineers, pre & post sales engineers, MIS, systems programmers, field engineers for positions throughout the United States.

Over the two year period we grew from a two person company to a 22 person organization. I was made Vice President 12/78.

4/77 - 10/77 Memorex Corporation, Industrial Relations Representative

Established a new personnel function to provide home office and domestic personnel support to Memorex’s Equipment Product Group which included Sales, Systems Engineering(pre & post sales support), Field Service and Marketing organizations. These functions included staffing/manpower planning, compensation, benefits, implementation and development of policies and procedures, employee relations, human resource development and recruiting for the sales and service organization throughout the U.S.

2/74 - 4/77 Control Data Corporation, Personnel Admin & Management

Division Personnel Manager for U.S. operation of Professional Software Division(PSD)

Provided primary personnel support and interface at the division level with U.S. operations of PSD(software analyst marketing support division totaling 1252 people).

Designed, implemented and conducted personnel programs which were unique to the requirements of PSD. Involved with the analysis and implementation of projects for the sales organization. This position encompassed the total scope of personnel activities including Staffing, Management and Employee Development, Compensation, Organization Planning, Employee Relations, Policies and Procedures, and Affirmative Action. Interfaced regularly with senior management to assist in design of policy and problem solving recommendations. Required daily interface with field management and frequent travel to participate with field managers. This position was at corporate headquarters in Minnesota(10/76-4/77)

Employment Manager/Regional Sales, Service Organization

Supervised two personnel administrators/recruiters; two personnel technicians; and maintained budget responsibility of $300,000. Responsible for recruiting and staffing all levels of Middle Management, Exempt and Non-Exempt employment to include: Data Processing, Sales and Engineering Management; Sales Representatives and Administrators; Nuclear, Structural Mechanical and Electrical Engineers; Programmers/Analysts; Computer Technicians and Operators. Established salary administration controls such as job evaluations. Administered performance evaluation/merit systems and company policies pertaining to employee pay and benefits. Total population supported was 1652. This position was at the Western Regional Marketing Headquarters, San Jose, Ca(4/75-10/76)

Personnel Administrator, Regional Sales & Service Organization

Had staffing/recruiting responsibility covering 11 states in the areas of College Relations: Exempt and Non-Exempt employment; and provided total functional personnel support to regional Field Engineering and Data Center organizations. Administered merit review system for these two divisions and evaluated sources of employment. Responsible for supervision of two personnel technicians who provided Non-Exempt office staffing; staffing statistics and maintenance of files. Washington D.C. Marketing Region(2/74 - 4/75).

Additional Information:

Vietnam Veteran: Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Army Field Artillery; Promoted to Major at the age of 28. Commanded combat and training units with success. Completed the Army Field Artillery Officers Basic & Advanced courses. Attended the Army’s Ranger and Parachutists(Airborne) schools; also Public Information Officer and Broadcast Officer (Radio & TV station) schools.

Assignments included tours of duty in Europe(Germany), Vietnam(173rd Airborne Brigade), and Republic of Korea(trained Korean Army in the use and deployment of the Field Artillery’s Honest John "rocket launcher".

Resigned commission many years prior to retirement to enter private business sector.
